Niantic — Richard Alan “Rick” Hansen II, 59, passed away peacefully Dec. 3, 2023, at Hartford Hospital surrounded by family. He was born Oct. 1, 1964, in Hartford to parents Fern and Richard Alan Hansen I of West Hartford.

Rick graduated from William Hall High School in West Hartford in 1983, and went on to become a sheet metal worker in Local 40, where he worked for 39 years. He also had worked as a metal specialist and commercial roofer, building roofs for many known landmarks in Connecticu­t. He took pride in all his work but was especially proud of his copper work. Rick was an avid car and motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed spending his free time working meticulous­ly on his many vehicles. He will be remembered for his love of life and those close to him.

Rick was predecease­d by his father Richard Alan Hansen I; and is survived by his beautiful children, Richard, Jenna and Jack of Rocky Hill; his mother Fern Hansen of Niantic; his sister Kim Hansen of West Hartford; his grandchild­ren, Addyson and Jack; nephew Brian; and nieces, Shannon and Kelly.

The family would like to thank the amazing nursing staff and Dr. Kamugisha of Starling Physicians, as well as the amazing APRN’s that supported Rick through his short illness.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home located at 48 Grand St., in Niantic. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at St. Agnes Church, 22 Haigh Ave., Niantic. Interment will follow in Duck River Cemetery, Old Lyme.
