HIGH TEA CELEBRATION JAN. 13 AT THAMES CLUB
EVENTS AT THE LYME PUBLIC LIBRARY
Local artist Angie Falstrom will be exhibiting her paintings at Lyme Public Library in January. Some of the items are for sale with a portion of the proceeds going to support the library. Falstrom’s notecards can be purchased at the circulation desk.
Other highlights of January include the Shell & Bee Studio Art Class Series starting Jan. 2. Join Ms. Chelbi of Shell & Bee
Studio at 4 p.m. as she leads a fun and creative afternoon class for elementary school students grades 1-5.
On Jan. 7 and 21, join Janet Roach at 1 p.m. for “Around the World in Eight Movies.” The award-winning screenwriter will be leading a Sunday afternoon film series featuring memorable international films including “King of Masks” (China, 1995).
On Jan. 18, the Winter Birding in Southeastern CT — All About Owls will be hosted at 6 p.m., with instructors from the Roger Tory Peterson Estuary Center.
The Cool-ology Wonder Tots: Animals in Winter program will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 20. for children ages 3-6, providing hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences aimed at getting kids really excited about science, engineering, STEAM connections, and the world around them!
The Lyme Public Library Cookbook Club meets at 1 p.m. Jan. 20. The month’s theme is Soup & Bread.
Finally, at 6 p.m. Jan. 30 the Mah Jongg Club meets for its monthly gathering. Previous experience playing Mah Jongg is preferred.

The CT Shoreline Club of Soroptimist International is hosting an Afternoon Tea Party fundraiser to kick off the New Year.
The high tea will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Thames Club at 290 State St. in New London. In addition to the tea service, there will be a basket fundraiser, fun and games.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will support Soroptimist’s “Live Your Dream” and “Dream It, Be It” programs. Tickets are $35 and may be purchased at bit.ly/ TeaParty011324. For information, email SoroptimistShoreline@ gmail.com.
