New Barbara — Emily London (Zdabosz) Mish, 101, of New London, passed away Jan. 3, 2024. She was born July 21, 1922, in Fall River, Mass., to the late Anthony and Anna (Hertel) Zdabosz.

In addition to her parents, Emily was predecease­d by her husband, Louis J. Mish; along with three brothers; and four sisters; and two infant great-grandsons, twin brothers Jax and Julian Hermanson. She is survived by her son Robert Mish, of New London; and three daughters, Barbara Gaslevich (Anthony) of Oakdale, Pa., Elizabeth Williams (Roger) of Waterford, and Mary Lou Hermanson (William) of East Lyme. She is also survived by five grandchild­ren: Anthony Gaslevich

III (Kimberly), Andrew Gaslevich (Cara), Emily Kenyon (Joseph), Dana Novak (Christophe­r) and Eric Hermanson (Erika). She also leaves behind 11 great-grandchild­ren: Katherine and Andrew Gaslevich, Elena and Anthony Gaslevich, Alina, Maya, Lola, and Colton Kenyon, Christophe­r and Anna Novak, and Jade Hermanson.

Since the mid-1950s, Emily was a member of St. Joseph Church in New London where she was a daily communican­t for decades. After raising her four children, Emily worked at the radio station WNLC and later at the Laborers’ Internatio­nal Union Hall as a bookkeeper.

She was also the favorite babysitter to her many grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at St. Joseph Church, 149 Montauk Avenue, New London. The burial will be held privately at a later date.

Health Care at Home. Each and every caretaker was helpful, caring and loving. We can’t name them all, but we wish to acknowledg­e in an even more special way nurses, Cat and Sara, along with our mom’s longest and most faithfully serving aide, Margueritt­e. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The family would also like to thank Father Mark O’Donnell and Paula Jessuck from St. Joseph Church for their visits with Mom.
