East Lyme — James Vincent McCormack Jr. 85, of Niantic, died Dec. 25, 2023, at the Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London. He was born in New London, March 22, 1938, the son of James Vincent and Martha Louise Faulkner McCormack. He was the husband of Carol Weagle McCormack, who passed away Sept. 14, 2023.

Mr. McCormack was a communican­t of St. Agnes Church in Niantic. He had been employed as a draftsman at Electric Boat and, after retirement, developed a new passion for driving a school bus for the town of East Lyme for 20 years

He loved camping with his family and friends and traveling with his wife and dog Elvis in their motor home.

He is survived by his daughter Tammy Fairbanks (Bruce) and son James McCormack (Tammy). He was predecease­d by his daughter Dana. He has three grandchild­ren, Westley Fairbanks, and Victoria and Jocelyn McCormack. He is also survived his brother William McCormack; and sisters Jeanne Grillo and JoAn Craig. He was predecease­d by brothers Frederick, Richard and Peter and sister Katie.

The funeral will assemble at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic, and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Agnes Church scheduled for 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, New London. Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at the funeral home.
