East Lyme — The family of Paul Redding is saddened to announce his sudden passing at home March 16, 2024. He was born May 16, 1965, to Thomas Redding Jr. and Nancy (Richards) Redding in Hartford.

Paul graduated from St. Bernard High School, Uncasville, in 1983 and worked many years for Bailey and Staub Inc. in New London. As a young adult Paul enjoyed waterskiin­g, boating and traveling to see live concerts, especially to see his favorites Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead. More recently Paul could be found in his workshop finding just the right tools for projects and helping friends and family as a skilled handyman. Paul was an avid New England Patriots fan and never missed a Red Sox game.

Paul is survived by his mother, Nancy Redding of Waterford; brother James Redding of Waterford; sisters, Nancy Jane Redding of New London, Ellen Redding Chirichell­a and her husband, Pasquale, of Niantic, Mary Redding Decyk and her husband, Ted, of Scotland, Conn.; nephews, Grant Decyk of Los Angeles, Calif., Drew Decyk of Scotland, Conn.; and lifelong friends, Andrew and Carolyn McNeil of Norwich. Paul also was survived by his cherished Bengal cat named CK. He was predecease­d by his father, Thomas Redding Jr.; brothers, Thomas Redding III, Mark Redding; and nephew Marco Chirichell­a.

Private services will be held by the family. Memorials may be made to The Brian Daigle Foundation, 461 Main St., Niantic, CT 06357 or the National Kidney Foundation.

The Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic, is assisting the family.
