Separate fires in Groton, Montville displace five

FIVE DISPLACED FROM FIRES IN GROTON AND MONTVILLE

The Red Cross on Friday provided emergency assistance to five people displaced by separate fires in Groton and Montville.

One fire was on Depot Road in Groton where one adult and three children were temporaril­y displaced. The other was on Moxley Road in Montville.

The Groton fire occurred at a duplex at 45 Depot Road where the Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department responded to find a minor electrical fire. The family from one of the two units there was expected to be displaced until electrical work is completed and deemed safe by the town’s building official.

Details on the Montville fire were not immediatel­y available. The Red Cross said the fire occurred at a garage at a Moxley Road home.
