L+M, WESTERLY HOSPITALS SCHEDULE FREE LECTURES

Lawrence + Memorial and Westerly hospitals are accepting phone and online registrati­on for a series of free lectures they’re presenting over the next several weeks, starting Wednesday.

The programs at L+M will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. in Baker Auditorium. Participan­ts must enter through the hospital’s main entrance. The schedule is:

Wednesday: Advanced peripheral artery disease. Learn the importance of a timely diagnosis, discuss risk factors, symptoms and advanced treatment. Speaker: Dr. Carlos Mena.

April 11: GERD relief with advanced treatment. Diagnosed with gastroesop­hageal reflux disease? Learn about a sameday procedure that effectivel­y prevents chronic acid reflux. Speaker: Dr. Jonathan Blancaflor.

April 30: Is weight-loss surgery right for you? Learn how your health can improve with bariatric surgery. Speaker: Dr. Geoffrey Nadzam.

June 5: Cervical cancer screening and treatment. Learn how early detection can improve the chances of successful treatment. Speaker: Dr. Mitchell Clark.

April 17: Breathe easier with lung cancer screening. Discuss lung cancer screening with lowdose CT, the benefits of early detection and available treatments. Speaker: Dr. Louis Mazzarelli.

April 24: Understand­ing peripheral artery disease. Learn ways to prevent, recognize and treat PAD, a common circulator­y condition in the legs and feet. Speaker: Dr. Christophe­r Regan.

May 1: Benefits of physical therapy for urinary incontinen­ce. Learn how physical therapy can improve muscle function and decrease symptoms. Speaker: Bridget Gamache.

May 8: Here’s to keeping your lungs healthy. Discuss common conditions that affect the lungs and when symptoms should not be ignored. Speaker: Kathryn Graves, APRN.
