Waterford — Marianne (DiNoto) Thielbar, 71, of Waterford entered eternal life March 23, 2024, in the company of her sons, after a brave and courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. She was born May 24, 1952, in New London to the late Joseph and Pauline (Bonanno) DiNoto. She graduated from Waterford High School, class of 1970, and graduated from Mitchell College, New London, class of 1972. Marianne pursued a career in the insurance industry and worked for Levine Insurance and, most recently, Smith Brothers Insurance.

She was united in marriage to Daniel Thielbar on Aug. 12, 1972, in St. Paul’s Church, Waterford, and her beloved husband predecease­d her in January 2022. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Gales Ferry.

Marianne is survived by two sons, Geoff and wife Sarah Thielbar of Franklin and Jason Thielbar of New London; and her sister Grace Lee DeMarco and spouse Dyann Baker of Gales Ferry. She is also survived by her two beloved grandsons, Gavin and Travis Thielbar; and nephews, Michael DeMarco (Nicole) of Newington, John DeMarco (Shannon) of Gales Ferry and stepnephew Michael Baker (Annabelle) of Livermore, Calif.

Marianne was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and Nana. Her sons and grandsons were the stars in her eyes and anyone who knew her felt her love for her family.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2024, in St. Luke Lutheran Church, 1830 Route 12, Gales Ferry. Interment will be private at St. Mary’s Cemetery, New London. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church, 1830 Route 12, Gales Ferry. The Impellitte­ri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London, has been entrusted with her care.
