East Lyme — Elizabeth Josephine “Liz” Fiorillo, 77, of Niantic, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, and was finally reunited with the love of her life, Salvatore Jr., whom she deeply missed for 24 years.

Liz was born on April 21, 1946, in Harlem, N.Y., the daughter of Lawrence and Eva DePasquale. Loving mother of Salvatore (Michele) Fiorillo III of Clinton, Dana Fiorillo of East Lyme and Vincent (Betsy) Fiorillo of Colorado. She was the adoring grandmother of Mickey and Nina Fiorillo, Salvatore IV (Ashley), Michael and Jonathan Fiorillo, and Christoper and Alivia Catanzaro; sister of Joseph (Denise) DePasquale and the late Lawrence DePasquale, Albina (Chicky) DePasquale, Anthony DePasquale and Andrew DePasquale; sisterin-law of Donna Lanzetti, and the late Vincent Fiorillo and Joann (John) Juliano. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.

Liz worked for 31 years as an administrative assistant at Electric Boat, where she loved working until retirement. Liz’s grandchildren were everything to her and she was at all of their special events. One of her favorite activities was to watch their sporting events and to cheer them on. Everyone knew Grandma Liz! She loved getting her hair and nails done, taking daily walks on the beach, going to special places with her dear friends and loved listening to Motown music. In Liz’s later years, before getting ill, she loved to take care of her elderly neighbors. She was very passionate about making sure they were content and took them wherever they needed to go.

Liz recently moved to Ocean Meadow Senior Living and Memory Care, where she made new friends and loved the staff who in return loved her. She enjoyed telling them about her life in New York, Motown music and most of all the stories of her family. Her vibrant personality kept many laughing. One of her memorable moments there was taking the title of Prom Queen at their “Senior” Prom.

The family of Liz would like to thank the staff at Ocean Meadow for the care and compassion they showed for Liz. We would also like to thank Hospice for their compassion as well.

A Procession will assemble at calling hours at 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 5, at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Lake Ave., Niantic, for an 11:30 a.m. mass in St. Agnes Church, 22 Haigh Ave., Niantic.
