Jacklyn Dailey

Mystic — Jacklyn May Chapman Dailey, “Nonnie,” passed away peacefully at home with her devoted family at her side April 8, 2024. She was born June 12, 1939, one of 15 children of Dorothy Winkler and Warren B Chapman.

She worked at Groton Pizza Palace for many years, but her favorite role was caregiver to her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: Denise Dailey (Ray), Wendell Dailey (Elizabeth), Beth Rogers (David) and Joyce Sauchuk (Mark); her beloved grandchildren: Kristin Dailey Silva, Brielle Rogers, David Rogers, Alexa Sauchuk, Matthew Sauchuk (Emily) and Marc Sauchuk; as well as great-grandchildren, Alissa Caswell and Mason Silva; and her siblings, Lee Chapman, Alan Chapman and Carolyn Baker. She was predeceased by Dan Griffin, with whom she made her home for many years; her brothers: Warren, Ralph, Robert, Kenny, Larry, Gary, Arthur and Ronnie Chapman; her sisters, Madeline Chapman, Barbara Davis and Betty Rowley; and her brother-in-law and friend, Marvin Rowley; friend Micki Banks; as well as her great-granddaughter Avery May Silva.

Nonnie was a friend to all. She was known for crocheting beautiful baby afghans that she gave away in abundance. Her goal was to cover every newborn child. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and her weekly breakfast at Somewhere in Time. She was an avid UConn basketball fan, and loved watching NASCAR and soccer.

Our hearts are broken to see her go but “the good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise,” Nonnie will meet us at Heaven’s door with a cup of tea and a hug. Per her request, services will be private.
