Madelyn Raymond

Niantic — Madelyn Raymond was born Sept. 22, 1948, in Dorchester, Mass., the only child of Stanley and Marie Card. She died peacefully April 14, 2024.

Madelyn spent her first years of life in South Boston, Mass. She spent the majority of her childhood growing up in Hyde Park, Mass. Madelyn was proud to call herself the daughter of a Boston firefighter, a Jake. Moving to Hyde Park led Madelyn down a path to meeting the love of her life Robert Raymond.

They married Sept. 20, 1969, and started a life together. She is the mother of Michelle Francis (Ryan) and Mark Raymond (Denise); and grandmother to Abi (Michael) and Mackenzie (Camden) Francis, and Andrew, Matthew, and Lucas Raymond. She will also be missed by the extended Boston Raymond family.

Madelyn loved being around the different family pets. She will especially look forward to seeing Haywood, Checkers, FC and Mylo in heaven. Robert and Madelyn raised their family for the majority of their growing up years in Simsbury.

Since she retired from her special education paraprofessional position in Simsbury, she and Bob have spent the last 18 years living in Niantic. A ride in the truck along the ocean picking up something at Pasta Vita for dinner was a perfect afternoon. Over the years, other things Madelyn has loved included bowling, bridge, tulips, cardinals, Simsbury sport teams, and Burkett/ Doherty sports teams. Madelyn never lost the “Boston” in her. It came out often.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 5 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic.
