NFA wins its 9th straight

Wethersfie­ld — The Norwich Free Academy boys' volleyball swept team Wethersfie­ld on Tuesday, stretching its winning streak to nine.

NFA (12-1) won 25-13, 25-14, 25-18, Alec Ferland led NFA with 28 assists, Gage Hinkley had 11 kills and Tyler McDermott 10 kills.

H.S. softball

• Grace DuBrava singled with two outs in the seventh inning to tie the game and scored the go-ahead run on a fielders choice in the 10th as East Lyme beat Immaculate 7-4. Avery Stadler, Kinzie Donahue and Abby Robinson had two hits each for the Vikings (9-4). Robinson allowed two hits after the third inning, allowing no runs and added 11 strikeouts.

• Aubrey Martin had three hits as Norwich Free Academy defeated Woodstock Academy, 14-1 in ECC Div. I. Amelia Driscoll, Dakota Bourdon and Madison Waltke had two hits apiece for NFA (8-4, 4-1).

• Brielle Kenney's perfect game lasted two outs into the fifth inning and Waterford defeated St. Bernard 16-1. The Lancers (10-3) scored nine runs in the third inning. Ana Waddington homered twice and Melanie Martin had four hits for Waterford.

• Norwich Tech defeated Cheney Tech 20-4 in a game shortened to five innings. Autumn Hanks pitched a one-hitter and had three hits for Norwich Tech (5-7) while Morgan Cook homered.

H.S. girls’ tennis

• Stonington defeated Montville, 7-0. Grace Duggan won No. 1 singles for the Bears (11-0) while Marcella Hamm, Misha Lewandowsk­i and Marina Lewandowsk­i also won in singles.

• Julia Mielguj won No. 1 singles and Fitch blanked St. Bernard, 7-0. Charlotte Beaulieu, Maddie Beaulieu and Fiza Shariff won in singles for the Falcons.

• East Lyme did not lose a set in a 7-0 win over Woodstock Academy on Monday night. Valentina Schiano, Isabella Villarreal, Avni Kabra and Avery Rindell won their matches for the Vikings (5-3) as did the doubles teams of Veronica Castro-Jessica Feng, Jessica Joe-Soohia Joe and Nina McKiernan-Peini Lin.

H.S. boys’ tennis

• Brady O'Neil won No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-0 and Stonington blanked Montville, 7-0. Matthew Turrisi, Peter Schoenecke­r and Thomas Lyon also won in singles for the Bears (11-0).

• East Lyme defeated St. Bernard/ Wheeler, 7-0. Jiauri Peng, Ajay Rena and Kenny Zheng won first through third singles for the Vikings (6-2). St. Bernard/Wheeler is 3-7.

• New London won its sixth straight, beating St. Bernard/Wheeler 6-1 in an ECC Division III match on Monday. Niko Churis, Yamyl Zapata Gonzalez and Adnel Torres won their matches for the Whalers (6-1, 3-1), who also won two doubles matches by forfeit. St. Bernard (3-6, 1-3) got a win from Wyatt Hayes. New London's Alex Churis and Jhandel Marichal won at No. 1 doubles.

• East Lyme beat NFA 7-0 on Monday. Ajay Rena, Kenny Zheng, Sid Jain and Eric Lovering swept singles play without dropping a game for the Vikings (5-2).

H.S. boys’ golf

• Grasso Tech defeated Prince Tech 180-235 at Keney Golf Course. Medalist Nathan Sylvestre (38) led the Eagles (5-7).

• Killingly defeated Griswold 7-0 at River Ridge Golf Course. Gennaro Lavado led Griswold (3-1) with a 42.

• Bacon Academy defeated Windham 191-195 at the Windham Club. Alex Gallardo led Bacon (3-2) with a 41 and John Ceruti shot 42.

• Ethan Torres shot 41 and Stonington defeated New London 7-0 in an ECC match at Great Neck Country Club. The Bears are 3-3.

• Old Saybrook beat Old Lyme 187209 in a Shoreline Conference match. Connor Cassella of Old Saybrook was the medalist with a 44. Elliot DunnSims led Old Lyme with a 48.

H.S. girls’ golf

• Norwich Free Academy defeated Manchester 202-216 at Norwich Golf Course. Medalist Caroline Goderre led NFA (5-0) with a 41.
