Donald Robbins

Waterford — Donald “Donny” Robbins, 72, of Waterford, passed away May 4, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. He was born on Sept. 6, 1951, in New London, the son of the late George Sr. and Edna Robbins. He was married to Nancy Robbins, his wife of 49 years, Sept. 7, 1974.

Donny graduated from Montville High School in 1969, and was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1971, where he spent two years. He then entered into the Army National Guard, serving his country for 20 years. He worked at EB as a shipfitter for 40 years. He also worked at East Lyme High School as a custodian for 16 years. Donny was truly a dedicated worker, rarely missing a day of work. He could always be counted on to help out his family and friends. Donny’s passion was flea markets, buying, selling and meeting up with his many friends and dealers. He spent countless hours and most Sunday mornings enjoying these meetings.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his sister-in-law Deborah Valdizan; his brotherin-law and wife James and Joanne Westall; his niece Lisa Horn and her family; and his sister-in-law Noreen Robbins and her family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother George Robbins Jr.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 7, at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington Street, New London. Interment with military honors will be in Jordan Cemetery.
