Patrick, S.C. — Mr. Raymond “Ray” George Fratus Jr., age 72, entered into rest Thursday, May 2, 2024, at his home. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday,

May 6, at Patrick Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Grover Johnson with the eulogy being delivered by his son, Thomas Fratus. The burial will follow in the Patrick Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, May 5, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mr. Fratus was born Jan. 28, 1952, in New London, a son of the late Raymond George Fratus Sr. and Jacqueline “Jackie” Barnes Fratus. He was a graduate of New London High School and a member of the Connecticu­t Army National Guard. Ray was a retired master barber with more than 30 years of service and the retired owner and operator of A Cut Above Hairstylin­g in Darlington, S.C. He was also an avid deer hunter and a USC Gamecocks fan.

Survivors include his wife, Janie Lou Tucker Fratus of the home; daughter Michelle F. (Chris) Roy of Groton; sons Ray Fratus III of Ledyard, Thomas (Bridgette) Fratus of

Darlington, S.C., and Joshua (Katie) Fratus of Darlington, S.C.; stepchildr­en Wayne (Sabrina) Barefoot of Lamar, S.C., and Leslie (Shuford Quick) Hendrix of Wallace, S.C.; grandchild­ren Trevor (Shannon) Wood, Tiffany Mahler, Lil’ Ray Fratus, Quinton Fratus, Kendall Fratus, Dalton Fratus, Levi Fratus, and Marley Ray Fratus; step-grandchild­ren Tyler Hendrix, Taylor Hendrix, and Peyton Pratt; great-grandchild­ren Leah Wood, Landon Mahler, Raymie Fratus, and Nava Fratus; brothers Mike (Sharon) Fratus of Fort Mill, S.C., Kit (Kathleen) Fratus of Jewett City, and Perry (Elaine) Fratus of Pawcatuck; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciati­on to the staff of Agape Hospice for their extraordin­ary care and support, and recommend that memorials be made in Ray’s memory to Agape Hospice, 301 Rainbow Drive, Florence, SC 29501.
