Poletto leads Vikings into ECC girls’ lax final

— Lily Poletto had five goals and six assists as No. 3 East Lyme beat No. 2 Wheeler 16-6 in the semifinals of the Eastern Connecticu­t Conference girls’ lacrosse tournament on Tuesday.

Taylor Kachinsky had three goals, Callan Keefe had three goals and two assists and Jessica Knapp and Morgan Romanowicz each scored twice for the Vikings (98-9), who play No. 4 Fitch for the title on Thursday. Fitch beat No. 1 Waterford 10-8.

Sophia Gouveia scored three goals and Grace Cassata scored twice for the Lions (11-4).

In other games:

• Old Lyme beat Morgan 10-9 to advance to the Shoreline Conference tournament final. The Wildcats will face the North Branford-Old Saybrook winner for the title on Thursday. Ella Curtiss Reardon scored four goals, Sydney Goulding had two goals and an assist, Maya LeQuire had a goal and two assists and Allie Krol, Alexis Antonellis and Anne-Marie Hinckley had a goal each for Old Lyme (14-3).

• New London/St. Bernard beat Windsor 12-10 for its first win of the season. Keshvi Patel scored six goals, Malahika Paulo had five goals, Catherine Hannaford made 18 saves and Sofia Pero had a goal for the Whalers (1-15).

H.S. boys’ volleyball

• NFA beat Rockville 3-0 in the Connecticu­t Volleyball League tournament semifinals. Gage Hinkley had 14 kills, three blocks and two aces, Tyler McDermott had eight kills, seven digs and three aces and Alec Ferland had 27 assists for the Wildcats (17-4), who won 25-2, 25-20, 27-25. NFA will play Wolcott Tech in the final Thursday at 4:30 p.m., at Sport Sciences.

H.S. baseball

• Griswold beat Ledyard 10-4 on Monday. Andrew Hardin and Kymani Boyce had three hits each for the Wolverines (14-6). Joey Morales and Trenton Burke each drove in two runs for the Colonels (1-19, 0-6), who also lost to Killingly 7-1 in an ECC Division II game. Cameron Weber had two hits and drove in the run for Ledyard.

H.S. girls’ tennis

• Waterford’s Sarah Hage will go for her fourth straight ECC singles title today when the top seed faces No. 2 Grace Duggan of Stonington. Hage beat No. 5 Valentina Schiano of East Lyme 6-2, 6-0, and Duggan beat No. 3 Julia Mielguj of Fitch 6-1, 6-0.

The doubles final also pits the top two, and four Stonington teammates, in the final. No. 1 Katya Snegovskik­h and Lauren Buckley beat No. 5 Alanah Maranzano and Lia Day of Ledyard 6-2, 6-1. And No. 2 Gwen McGugan and Angelina Williams beat No. 3 Hazel Siu and Sophia Sit of Waterford 6-1, 6-3. The finals begin at 3 p.m. at Stonington High.

• Norwich Tech swept doubles play and beat New London 4-3 in a nonleague match. The teams of Alysa Mikolajeza­k-Amairs Moreno, Alex Lopez-Makenzie Stabach and Jasmine Williams-Jarelis Avevedo won for the Warriors (7-6) along with Sophia Cabellero at No. 4 singles. Widbery Ledoux, Cashel Jones and Jayla Taylor won their matches for the Whalers (2-14).

H.S. boys’ tennis

• Stonington teammates Tucker Callahan and Brady O’Neil will play for the ECC singles title today. Top seed Callahan beat No. 5 Ajay Rana of East Lyme 6-3, 6-3, and No. 2 O’Neil beat No. 3 Jiarui Peng of East Lyme 6-3, 6-3.

The top two seeds will also play for the doubles title. No. 1 Sam Lund and Chase Donnarummo of Stonington beat No. 4 Josh Payne and Eric Lovering of East Lyme 6-1, 6-1. And No. 2 Morgan Fisher and Nick Sousa of Fitch beat No. 2 Louis Dhervilly and Adam Balfour of Waterford 5-7, 6-2, 6-1. The finals begin at 3 p.m. at Stonington High.
