CenturyLink, Colorado’s largest land-line phone company, said Friday it will issue bill credits to customers affected by the recent floods.

“We are contacting these customers to inform them of these credits,” spokesman CJ Powell said. “It’s going to comein the form of a mailer.”

Powell’s remarks came after a subscriber, Pinewood Springs resident Cathy Wise, said she received a full bill for September and wasn’t notified that she would be credited until calling customer service.

“I have to pay this bill, and they’re going to credit me, and I’ll see the credit in about two months,” Wise said Thursday.

The stay-at-home engineer is among hundreds of customers who are still without phone and Internet service because of the floods. Her service was cut Sept. 12.

When she called Century Link on Sept. 24, a representative told her that she wouldn’t be billed for the duration of the outage, Wise said.

“I got my bill (Thursday), and lo and behold, they billed us for just like a normal month,” said Wise, who subscribes to CenturyLink’s phone and broadband services.

A customer-service manager told Wise on Thursday that subscribers would have to call in to receive a bill credit.

Powell said that may be the case for some customers who aren’t identified as being in an area that has been affected by the floods.

“The majority of these customers we can identify through looking at our network data and our customer list,” Powell said.

He said individual billing cycles will determine when the credits will appear.

CenturyLink has restored service to some areas and is providing updates through its website at centurylink.com.
