COLTS HAVE MANNING’S ATTENTION, NOT LEGACY

-

Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning isn’t ready to discuss his legacy just yet.

After spending 10 minutesWednesday dodging questions about how it will feel to return to Indianapolis for Sunday night’s game against the Colts, Manning was asked about the L-word, which he’s still not ready to consider.

“I don’t know what legacy means when you’re a current player,” Manning said. “I really never have known how to answer that.”

When asked whether he always will be remembered as a Colt— the insinuation being thatManning might be creating an L-word with the Broncos— he was similarly noncommittal.

“I guess you’d have to probably poll people,” he said. “I don’t know how I can answer that. It’s hard to answer right in the middle— hey, no question I’m right in the home stretch ofmy football career, but midseason of your 16th year, you’re playing a really good team on the road, it’s hard to get too reflective.”

Miller update.

VonMiller spoke briefly Wednesday about his improved physique, reinforcing his earlier point that he’s in the best shape of his life. He said his weight fluctuates between 262 and 270 pounds and couldn’t pinpoint it; the team will have its weigh-in later this week.

When asked whether he would be able to fit into his suit to travel this weekend, Miller laughed and said he has several custom-fit suits that will work.

Roster shuffling.

Rookie wide receiver Tavarres King was signed off the practice squad to the 53-man roster Tuesday and was present at practiceWednesday. The Broncos still must make one more roster move before Sunday’s game to make space for the return of Miller.

Injury report.

After missing last week’s practices and the game against Jacksonville, WesleyWoodyard (neck) and Robert Ayers (shoulder) returned to practice Wednesday. Both were limited, along with Shaun Phillips (hamstring) and Sylvester Williams (neck), who were injured against Jacksonville.

Only Orlando Franklin, who injured his ankle against Jacksonville, missed Wednesday’s practice, and even J.D. Walton, who remains on the physically unable to perform list, was on the field.

The Broncos have 21 days to make a decision onWalton as to whether they will activate him or place him on seasonending injured reserve. Walton hasn’t played in a year.
