SECOND BOY DIES AFTER TUB DROWNING

pittsburgh A 6-yearold Pennsylvan­ia boy whose mother allegedly held him underwater in a bathtub has died, four days after his younger brother drowned, the Allegheny CountyMedi­cal Examiner’s Office confirmed Saturday.

The boy, Daniel Schlemmer, had been declared brain dead after authoritie­s say he and his 3-yearold brother, Luke, were submerged underwater by their mother at theirMcCan­dless home Tuesday.

Laurel Michelle Schlemmer, 40, is being held in the AlleghenyC­ounty Jail without bond on criminal homicide and other charges.

5-year-old bypasses Xbox security

san diego » A 5-year-old San Diego boy has outwitted the sharpest minds at Microsoft by finding a backdoor to the Xbox.

Kristoffer Von Hassel managed to log in to his father’s Xbox Live account. When the password log-in screen appeared, Kristoffer hit the space button a few times and hit enter.

The boy’s father, Robert Davies, who works in computer security, said he reported the issue to Microsoft, which fixed the bug and recently listed Kristoffer on its website as a “security researcher.”

Kansas lawmakers pass bill to void gun rules

topeka, kan. » Kansas legislator­s gave final approval Saturday to a bill that would nullify city and county gun restrictio­ns and ensure that it’s legal across the state to openly carry firearms, a measure the National Rifle Associatio­n sees as a nationwide model for stripping local officials of their gun-regulating power.

The House approved the legislatio­n, 102-19, a day after the Senate passed it, 37-2. The measure goes next to Republican Gov. Sam Brownback.

Atlanta archbishop will sell mansion

smyrna, ga. » Trying to appease angry parishione­rs, the Roman Catholic archbishop of Atlanta said Saturday that he will sell a $2.2 million mansion just three months after he moved in.

Archbishop­Wilton Gregory announced the decision after a closeddoor meeting with members of several church councils at his headquarte­rs north of Atlanta. He publicly apologized­Monday for building the Tudorstyle residence and will move out in early May.
