BOY, 2, SURVIVES FALL FROM THIRD STORY

northglenn A 2-year-old Northglenn boy climbed onto an apartment balcony railing early Saturday afternoon and plunged three floors to a concrete patio, authoritie­s say.

The toddler was unconsciou­s and not breathing when his mother reached him, but he soon began crying, said Sgt. Ian Lopez of the Northglenn Police Department.

The child, whose name has not been released, climbed onto boxes or a table that was on a balcony of his family’s third-floorWebst­er Lake apartment at 11701Washi­ngton St. He fell over the edge at 12:23 p.m., Lopez said.

Paramedics rushed the child by ambulance to Children’s Hospital in Aurora.

Along the way, the boy was fussy, which Lopez described as a “good sign.”

The child suffered minor cuts and abrasions, he said.

Suspected drunken driver arrested in fatal crash

mesa county » State troopers have arrested a 20year-old woman on suspicion of vehicular homicide and drunken driving after the Jeep she was driving rolled and ejected her 18-year-old cousin, authoritie­s say.

Lydia Perez of Fruita was killed in the accident that happened just after midnight Saturday in the North Fruita Desert, according to Trooper JohnWillia­ms of the State Patrol.

Another female passenger in the Jeep received minor injuries. Her name and age have not been released.

Alexis Perez, a cousin of Lydia Perez’s, was arrested for investigat­ion of vehicular homicide, drunken driving and other crimes. She is being held in theMesa County Jail, according to a news release.

Alexis Perez was driving a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee south on a dirt road when she lost control of the Jeep and it rolled 1½ times, throwing Lydia Perez from the Jeep.

Alexis Perez was not injured in the accident. It appears Lydia Perez was not wearing a seat belt, according to Williams.

Skier who died suffered chest injuries

pitkin county » An Aspen ski resort employee who died while skiing at the Snowmass Ski Area suffered multiple chest injuries.

The Pitkin County coroner’s office says 47-year-old Jeffrey Beadle was found by another skier unconsciou­s and unresponsi­ve Thursday afternoon. Beadle, originally from Centralia, Ill., worked as a lift operator at Aspen ski resort.

Beadle, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was found in a remote, expert-only area that took time to reach.
