THREE INJURED AS APARTMENT EXPLODES

larimer county Three people were injured early Saturday morning when an apartment exploded and sparked a fire near Fort Collins.

According to a news release from the Larimer County Sheriff ’s Office, deputies and Poudre Fire Authority crews were called about 2:45 a.m. to the 500 block of North Bryan Avenue. When they arrived, they found two injured men and an injured woman outside the small apartment building.

All three people were treated and transporte­d to hospitals.

Their identities were not immediatel­y available.

Some residents of the complex were taken to shelters or friends’ houses because of safety concerns.

The cause of the fire remains under investigat­ion.

Police investigat­e death of llama

trinidad » Police are investigat­ing the death of a llama that was killed after wandering around the campus of Trinidad State Junior College earlier in the week.

Two adult males and two juveniles were being questioned, but no arrests had been made as of Saturday. One of the menwas reported to be part-owner of the animal. The Pueblo Chieftain reported that the menwere questioned after posting photos of themselves­with the dead llama on Facebook.

The newspaper said the animal apparently was killed with an arrow and its throat was slit.

Four in crash were Adams City students

commerce city » All four people in a car that collided with a motorcycle Friday in Commerce City were students at Adams City High School, according to police. Themotorcy­clist, a 52-year-old man, was killed. His name has not been released. The four in the carwere injured.

Police said speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash. Possible charges include vehicular homicide.

The crash happened about 3 p.m. on Colorado 2 at Locust Street. The highway was closed for more than five hours. Police said a white Dodge Neon was traveling south when it lost control and collided with a northbound black Yamaha motorcycle.

The 16-year-old female driver of the Neonwas transporte­d to Denver HealthMedi­cal Center with critical injuries and remains in serious condition.

Two 16-year-old male passengers were transporte­d to Children’s Hospital with injuries that were not lifethreat­ening. They remained in serious condition Saturday.

A fourth occupant, an 18-year-old female, was treated for minor injuries and released.
