Trojans rewarded for their OTwork

Fountain-Fort Carson sure is getting used to playing under pressure.

For the fourth time in five weeks, theTrojans needed to go into overtime. And for the fourth time, they came out victorious, this time winning 43-42 over Doherty on Friday.

The Trojans (6-1) outscored Doherty 29-28 in four overtimes, capped by a successful two-point conversion.

Running back Drue Harris rushed for 119 yards and two touchdowns for Fountain-Fort Carson. But it was the Trojan’s passing game that was eyeopening: four completion­s resultin, three touchdowns.

Doherty fell to 6-1 despite a combined 282 rushing yards and five touchdowns from Tequan Baker and Justice Littrell.

Haley leads Panthers.

Montezuma-Cortez senior running back Randy Haley rushed for 216 yards and three touchdowns in a 47-13 win over Bayfield. Haley is tied for the state lead in touchdowns with 20, along with Doherty’s Baker.

Fairview quarterbac­k Johnny Feauto threw for a season-high five touchdowns in a 46-8 win againstMou­ntain Range. The senior completed 20-of-26 passes for 257yards for theKnights (7-0).

Franklin climbs record books.

Kent Denver senior running back Jaden Franklin tallied four touchdowns in a 39-7 rout of rival Faith Christian, bringing his total to 23 on the year. In his career, Franklin has 88 touchdowns, good for ninth on the state’s all-time list.

D’Evelyn wide receiver Cameron Brown had seven receptions for 134 yards and three scores as the Jaguars won 40-7 over Centaurus. D’Evelyn running back Ian Lewis had 234 yards rushing and two scores; and, after throwing for more than 1,000 yards the previous two weeks, quarterbac­k Owen Burke had 331 yards and four TDs.
