NATO OFFICIAL: SOME REFUGEES TERRORISTS

washington » Terrorists, criminals and foreign fighters are part of the daily refugee flow into Europe, the top NATO commander in Europe told lawmakers, “masking the movement” of these dangerous elements and heightenin­g the potential for an attack.

In testimony Tuesday before the Senate Armed Services Committee, U. S. Air Force Gen. Philip Breedlove said the Islamic State terrorist group is “spreading like a cancer” within this mix, “taking advantage of paths of least resistance, threatenin­g European nations” and the United States.

In response to a question about whether the Islamic State will continue to infiltrate refugee flows, Breedlove said, “I think that they are doing that today.”

Rolling Stones to rock Havana. The Rolling

Stones on Tuesday announced they will play a free concert in Havana on March 25, becoming the most famous act to play Cuba since the nation’s 1959 revolution.

The Stones will play in Havana’s Ciudad Deportiva three days after President Barack Obama visits Havana. The concert is expected to draw a massive audience in a country where the government once persecuted young people for listening to rock music.

“We have performed in many special places during our long career, but this show in Havana is going to be a landmark event for us, and, we hope, for all our friends in Cuba too,” the band said.

San Francisco raises tobacco age B

san francisco » Supervisor­s voted unanimousl­y Tuesday to boost the legal age to buy tobacco products from 18 to 21, despite arguments from opponents that cities and counties cannot trump California law.

San Francisco becomes the second- largest city, after New York, to raise the minimum age to buy cigarettes and other tobacco products, including e- cigarettes. Hawaii and Boston also require tobacco buyers to be 21.

Cosby hearing may be delayed. Bill Cosby’s

criminal sex- assault case was temporaril­y halted days before a key hearing while a Pennsylvan­ia appeals court considers his effort to have the case thrown out before trial.

The Pennsylvan­ia Superior Court on Tuesday granted Cosby a postponeme­nt while the court decides whether to hear Cosby’s pretrial appeal. His preliminar­y hearing had been set for next week.

Cosby, 78, is accused of drugging and molesting a Temple University employee in his suburban Philadelph­ia home in 2004.

He said he had a promise from a former district attorney that he would never be charged over his encounter with Andrea Constand. However, a different district attorney reopened the case last year and filed
