Reactions to the opening of RTD’s new commuter rail line to DIA

- Re: Tom McIntosh, Steve Turner, Re: Lisa Hughes, Keith Bond,

“Verdict: A-OK; Hundreds line up to take the A-train as it opens to public,” April 23 news story.

We rode the new commuter rail line between Union Station and Denver International Airport. Despite its very high cost, this project and DIA display Denver at its finest.

Imagine! Trained therapy dogs at DIA to soothe travelers’ nerves, a very scenic and smooth train ride from downtown, and friendly Coloradans in abundance. We’re worldclass, and it shows!

BBB Your piece on the new ALine to DIA was well done and highlights that Denver is joining other “world class cities” in providing economical transportation to its airport. But I wonder how long it will be before commuters on RTD’s other lines start complaining about the amount of luggage taking up seats at 8 a.m.

Centennial

BBB I’m glad the new rail line to DIA is a success and I hope it’s throughly enjoyed by the rest of the metro area while we here in Boulder County wait another 30 years for our line that was supposed to open last year, and continue to drive or take the bus to DIA. “FasTracks” certainly isn’t fast up here, despite the fact that we too have been contributing to it since 2005.

So, when you still see your Boulder County friends busing or driving to DIA, don’t be surprised. (And yes, that’s still faster than busing to Union Station and then catching the new A-Line.) BBB “CU sees ‘A’ lot of good in having its name on train,” April 20 news story.

Let me see. Tuition is going up, student debt is a problem, and the University of Colorado spends $5 million for its name on a train to DIA. How many students would $5 million help?
