Top five corners:
Denver’s Aqib Talib places himself, teammate Chris Harris among the elite in the NFL.
Cornerback rankings became a hot topic when the NFL Network’s LaDainian Tomlinson argued there are no shutdown cornerbacks in the league now, to which the Broncos’ “No Fly Zone” quickly took offense.
Chris Harris responded to Tomlinson and offered up his list of the top five cornerbacks in the game.
He and Aqib Talib think alike.
Talib, in an online question-and-answer session with fans Tuesday, offered the same list when asked to rank the top cornerbacks in the game: himself, Harris, Richard Sherman, Patrick Peterson and Darrelle Revis.
Talib also opened up about everything from his former coach Bill Belichick: “He is one of the best leaders I’ve ever been around”; to Peyton Manning: “I didn’t really want him to come back. I didn’t want the ending of his book to come to an end any other way”; to his ornithophobia: “I’ve never trusted birds.”
Anderson talks Hillman.
More than a month after the Broncos re-signed C.J. Anderson on a four-year deal, they brought back his sidekick, Ronnie Hillman, on a one-year contract. Hillman’s return appeared in doubt after Super Bowl 50, when he rushed only five times for zero yards.
But for Anderson, the move was big.
Draft party.
Broncos defensive end Derek Wolfe will host an NFL draft party at Celebrity Lanes in Centennial on Thursday to benefit his Wolfe Pack Foundation, which helps underprivileged youth in Colorado and his home state of Ohio, and Active Force Foundation, a nonprofit that helps the disabled participate in sports.
Wolfe will be joined by at least 20 of his Broncos teammates at the sixth annual Denver Draft Party, held from 5-9:30 p.m. Opportunities for photos with players and a silent auction for signed Broncos memorabilia will be included.
Tickets can be purchased at DenverDraftParty.com, but those interested in attending must also register by calling 303-6889412. Space is limited for those wanting to bowl with the players.
