Four hurt in DUI crash.

Four people were hospitalized, one in serious condition, after a suspected drunken driver sped away from a traffic stop and crashed his car, police say.

The suspect is being held for investigation of drunken driving and several other charges related to eluding police and causing an injury accident.

Denver police tried to stop a car around 2:10 a.m. at West 10th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard, said Sonny Jackson, Denver police spokesman.

The suspect refused to stop and sped away, Jackson said. The police officer did not chase the vehicle, which crashed four blocks away at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Sheridan. All four people inside the car were injured.

The driver appeared to be intoxicated, Jackson said, and faces multiple charges instead of one relatively minor offense.
