PEDESTRIAN KILLED IN CRASH IS IDENTIFIED
aurora» Police on Wednesday released the names of a victim and suspect involved in a fatal crash Monday in Aurora.
Police said Dalton M. McCreary, 22, died when he and an 18-year-old friend were walking north on South Chambers Road, crossing East Iliff Avenue, when an SUV flew into the intersection, according to police.
A 1998 Toyota 4Runner driving east on East Iliff at a high rate of speed ignored a red light and attempted to turn north onto South Chambers and started to slide. The driver lost control and hit McCreary. The driver tried to drive away, but the SUV failed.
The person with McCreary said that just before the impact, McCreary pushed him out of the SUV’s path, saving his life, according to the news release.
The driver of the SUV, Christopher O’Neil Tarr, 41, of Aurora, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence. He was released Wednesday on $50,000 bail.
Two die in plane crash near Telluride. Two people
died Wednesday in a plane crash in southwestern Colorado.
The crash happened near Telluride, according to the San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office identified the pilot as a wellknown local, Robert “Glider Bob” Saunders.
Saunders, 64, was piloting the fixed-wing, motorized-glider aircraft when it went down, for an unknown reason, in Prospect Basin in the Telluride Ski area around 2 p.m., the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
The other victim, a Colorado man, was the only passenger.
Denver hostel violations include faulty wiring, leaking boiler. A youth
hostel in Denver, shut down by the city Tuesday, violated fire codes including a natural gas leak in a boiler, unsafe electrical wiring and an excessive amount of combustible materials stored in the basement.
Gas and electricity to the Denver International Youth Hostel, a private business at 630 E. 16th Ave. in North Capitol Hill, have been turned off until the owner fixes the array of dangerous violations, said Melissa Taylor, a Denver Fire Department spokeswoman.
Other violations, according to the fire department, include a rear stairway and balcony collapse, extension cords replacing permanent electrical wiring, holes in walls, blocked egress paths, and missing
