Furor over fiver
A small group of British vegetarians and vegans are directing their anger at, of all things, the Bank of England. The bank created a new five-pound note earlier this year that contains a substance derived from animal fat. The Bank of England did confirm that the five-pound banknote contains traces of tallow, which is used in candles and soaps. The vegans and vegetarians have started an online petition to pressure the Bank of England to find a new way of making the banknote.
