At Scottsdale Stadium scottsdale, ariz.» Stephen Cardullo, the outfielder/first basemen who made his majorleague debut last season at age 28, is making a lot of noise this spring. He went 2-for-3 with an RBI double Friday night in the Rockies’ 5-1 victory over San Francisco. “You can’t say enough about how he’s hitting,” manager Bud Black said. “He’s squaring balls up against all types of pitchers, and he’s playing with a great deal of intent to try and make this ballclub. “When you are having the at-bats he’s having ... the way he’s taking pitches, it’s impressive. The collective at-bats are very, very good.” Cardullo is hitting .364 with 12 RBIs, including two grand slams for a 1.061 OPS (on-base percentage plus slugging). Hits: Left-hander Harrison Musgrave, a darkhorse candidate for the rotation or possibly a bullpen role, pitched three crisp innings, allowing no runs and one hit while striking out two. It was his first Cactus League start and he performed well. … Right-hander Jordan Lyles pitched two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out two . ... Leadoff hitter Charlie Blackmon rapped out two singles and is hitting .476. Misses: Right-hander Zach Jemiola, optioned to Triple-A earlier in the day, pitched fairly well, but he gave up a double, a single and run to the Giants in the seventh, ending the Rockies’ chances of a shutout. What’s next: Rockies at Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, 2:05 p.m. (MDT), Saturday, at Tempe Diablo Stadium. Rockies probables: RHP Antonio Senzatela, RHP Greg Holland, RHP Jason Motte, RHP Jairo Diaz. Angels probables: RHP Yusmeiro Petit, RHP Cam Bedrosian, RHP Andrew Bailey, LHP Cody Ege, RHP Justin Miller.
