SPACEX SENDS RECYCLED SHIP TOWARD ISS

cape canaveral, fla.» Spacex launched its first recycled cargo ship to the Internatio­nal Space Station on Saturday, yet another milestone in its bid to drive down flight costs.

After a two-day delay caused by thundersto­rms, the unmanned Falcon rocket blasted off carrying a Dragon capsule that made a station delivery nearly three years ago. When this refurbishe­d Dragon reaches the orbiting lab on Monday, it will be the first returning craft since NASA’S now-retired shuttles.

The first-stage booster flown Saturday afternoon was brand new, and as is now the custom, returned to Cape Canaveral following liftoff for a successful vertical touchdown.

Third noose discovered in D.C. area. A noose was discovered in the Hillcrest neighborho­od of Southeast District of Columbia on Thursday, prompting shock and anger from the mayor and residents still on edge after two other nooses were discovered in the city within the past week.

Workers found the noose hanging from a home under constructi­on on a residentia­l street around 5 p.m. on Thursday, D.C. police said.

The location is across the street from an elementary school.

Police said they have no evidence at this point linking the noose found in Hillcrest to one discovered in an exhibit at the National Museum of African American History and Culture on Wednesday and another found hanging from a tree on the grounds of the Hirshhorn Museum on May 27.

Airliner gets stuck in the mud ● san antonio» An American Airlines plane veered off of a runway at the San Antonio airport during takeoff on Saturday morning and got stuck in the mud, authoritie­s said.

No injuries were reported on American Airlines Flight 2214, said Federal Aviation Administra­tion spokesman Lynn Lunsford. Commercial flights at San Antonio Internatio­nal Airport were suspended until the aircraft could be removed.

Court allows video of fatal stomping ● newark, n.j..» A New Jersey appeals court has ruled that it wasn’t unfair for a jury to see cellphone video of a man being stomped to death in the suspect’s murder trial.

Dwayne Johnson had argued the video of the January 2013 fight in Newark unfairly influenced jurors.

But a three-judge appeals panel rejected that argument and says the video was crucial to the jury’s decision to convict him of first-degree murder in the death of Terrence Everett.

Two more Indonesian­s deported ● elizabeth, n.j.» Two more Indonesian men who fled to the United States to escape religious persecutio­n of Christians have been deported back to the country.

The two were among four who had been living in New Jersey since the 1990s, but were detained by U.S. Immigratio­n and Customs Enforcemen­t after checking in with officials in Newark last month.
