BOULDER: Son of former Fox host dies.
Fox had just announced host was leaving; 19-yearold was a CU sophomore
BOULDER» Former Fox news personality Eric Bolling expressed grief online Saturday over the death of his son, whom a University of Colorado official said was a student at the school.
Eric Chase Bolling’s father, Eric Bolling, announced on Twitter that authorities told him that “there is no sign of self harm at this point. Autopsy will be next week. Please respect our grieving period.”
“Adrienne and I are devastated by the loss of our beloved son Eric Chase last night,” he said in an earlier tweet. “Details still unclear. Thoughts, prayers appreciated.”
The 19-year-old’s death came just hours after Fox News announced on Friday that it had parted ways with Eric Bolling, who hosted the show “The Specialists.” Eric Bolling, who had been suspended last month following allegations that he sent lewd photos to female co-workers, had worked at Fox for about 10 years.
CU spokeswoman Deborah Mendezwilson confirmed that Eric Chase Bolling had been a student at the school since fall of 2016, but she would not confirm whether he had died. He was a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Mendez-wilson referred further questions to Boulder police and the Boulder County Coroner, who she said was not likely to make a statement on the case until Monday.
Boulder police Sgt. Nick Smetzer said Saturday that officers responded to the 900 block of 28th Street on Friday on an unattended death. He did not have an exact time, and that any formal identification would be issued by the coroner’s office.
The coroner’s office did not respond to an email seeking comment on Saturday.
Eric Chase Bolling studied economics at CU and lived in Boulder, according to his Facebook page, which had been turned into a legacy account on Saturday afternoon.
