MOM CHARGED IN GIRLS’ DEATHS

Nashika Leonie Bramble faces murder charges after DNA testing confirmed the bodies of two pre-teen girls found in Norwood are her daughters.

The cause of death for Makayla Victoria Roberts, 10, and Hannah Elizabeth Rosalina Marshall, 8, remains under investigat­ion.

Four co-defendants have also been charged in the case.

Deputy guilty of shooting deer while on duty.

A former Elbert County sheriff’s deputy pleaded guilty this week to shooting a mule deer while on duty and later returning to bag the buck.

Stephen Few pleaded guilty to attempting to influence a public servant, hunting big game without a license and illegal possession of wildlife, according to the Elbert County District Attorney’s Office. Additional charges were dropped in return for the guilty pleas.

Few, a retired Georgia State Police officer, was sentenced to three years probation and 100 hours of community service.

Mom charged for putting girl in danger.

A 28-yearold mother is now facing charges related to the serious injuries her 2-year-old daughter suffered last month, allegedly at the hands of the woman’s boyfriend.

Melissa Nicole Mangeri was arrested Thursday on suspicion of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury. Mangeri’s boyfriend, Joshua Gonzales, was arrested by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office on Sept. 17. He has been charged with reckless child abuse resulting in serious injuries.

Residents sue to keep “Gold Rush” out of Park County.

Residents say the presence of the “Gold Rush” reality TV show has become a nuisance and have sued to keep the show from returning to Park County for a second season.

They say heavy equipment at the site of a mining operation would start at 7 every morning and wouldn’t stop until the evening, turning a rural neighborho­od near Fairplay into an industrial zone.

Sheriff’s offce seeks fugitive.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help finding a fugitive after he let the battery in his ankle monitor die.

Eric Ryan Anderson, 35, is awaiting trial on domestic violence, violation of a protective order, stalking and burglary charges, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone who knows of Anderson’s whereabout­s is asked to call 911 or the sheriff’s office at 303-288-1535.

Survey shows LGBTQ grad school students twice as likely to drop out.

New data from a graduate student climate survey shows LGBTQ graduate students were twice as likely as straight students to withdraw from the University of Colorado without getting their degrees from the time the survey was conducted and March 2017.

CU Boulder’s Office of Institutio­nal Equity and Compliance used enrollment data to track the progress of students who completed the survey in fall 2014 and found that there was no significan­t difference in retention between women and men, or across ethnicity groups.

More than 4,300 CU Boulder graduate students were invited to participat­e in the climate survey, and 37 percent took part.
