CHARACTERS WELCOME

Little ghosts and goblins can enjoy Halloween with the Peanuts gang at the Bass Pro Shops’ Great Pumpkin Celebration on Oct. 21 and 22 and from Oct. 27 to 31. Kids receive a 4-by-6 photo of themselves hanging with Snoopy and his friends. The first 100 children to have their photo taken each day also get a Halloween pin-on lanyard. Plus, there are plenty of creative arts and crafts workshops for little hands. For extra fun, stop in on Oct. 28 or Halloween night, when children can trick-or-treat in the store and show off in a costume parade. The best treat of all? It’s free. Activities and times vary by day, so review the schedule. To memorialize the moment, they’re also offering a special $5 photo package. Bass Pro Shops is located at Northfield at Stapleton. basspro.com/ Halloween

HARVESTING TOYS

Town Center at Aurora (14200 E. Alameda Ave.) plays host to Harvest Festival on Oct. 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fest has a dual purpose — both a fun family event and a charity toy drive for Children’s Hospital Colorado Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. Free activities include minipumpkin decorating (for the first 150 children), bounce houses, face painting, train rides, a photo booth, live music and more. Prize drawings will be held at noon, 1 and 2 p.m. To enter the drawing you must purchase a ticket for $5 or donate an unwrapped new toy. Look for all the action in the southwest parking lot by JCPenney. towncenterataurora.com/eventsnews/event/harvestfestival

GREEK PARTY

Quiznos is going Greek for a limited time with the introduction of three menu items. Slow-roasted for five hours, seasoned beef and lamb are the center of its new lineup. Greek menu items include gyro flatbread, gyro sub sandwich and Greek salad. Enjoy the gyro flatbread for free with any purchase (even just a bag of chips or soft drink) on Oct. 25. The sandwich has the seasoned meat on flatbread, topped with lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, feta cheese, banana peppers and cucumber tzatziki sauce. quiznos.com

ROLL ’EM OUT

This deal from P.F. Chang’s seems a little fishy, really. On Oct. 26, the Asian eatery is giving customers hand-rolled fresh sushi for free — choose a California or spicy tuna roll. The offer is for dine-in only, with no purchase necessary. Complement your meal or enjoy a few drinks with friends, as you nibble on the freebie. In the metro area, there are locations in Aurora, Broomfield, Denver, Lakewood and Lone Tree. freesushiday.com

WHALE TALES

It’s an ocean of deals at the Fall Whale of a Used Book Sale, sponsored by Friends of the Jefferson County Public Library. The event runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 27 and 28 and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 29. Held in the massive exhibit hall of the Jefferson County Fairgrounds (15200 W. Sixth Ave.) in Golden, the sale boasts more than 100,000 books, DVDs, records, maps and audio books. Prices range from 50 cents to $3 on most items. For bargain-hunting bibliophiles, Sunday is Bag Day — fit as many items as you can fit into a grocery-size bag for $6. (Those who want to cherry pick the deals before the crowds can enter early at 8 a.m. on Friday for $10.) jeffcolibraryfoundation.org/whale-sale-fall2017
