3 things to watch

-

Hitting the brakes at eight straight?

Should the Broncos fall to the 5-7 Jets on Sunday, they would tie the franchise record for consecutive losses within the same season at nine — a mark set by the 1967 Broncos, who were a member of the AFL. Less than two full years removed from a historic Super Bowl 50 run, the Broncos are in danger of tying themselves to a more dubious milestone. Just how desperate are the Broncos to end this miserable streak? And how many fans will be there to watch?

Pursuit of 1,000 yards

Veteran running back C.J. Anderson is determined to reach the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the first time in his NFL career. Helping Anderson reach that plateau — he must average 87 yards over his final four games — could help the Broncos focus on building their ground game. Too often, Denver has shied away from the run when the deficit has still been manageable. The Broncos have proven they aren’t built to pass more than 30 times.

Can Siemian rebound?

Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian had possibly the worst performance of his NFL career in last Sunday’s 35-9 loss to the Dolphins. A similar outing would give Denver’s no-marginfor-error offense little hope of doing enough to end the team’s losing streak. Getting Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders involved with some easy catches early — something he was unable to do until late in the loss to Miami — would be a good start.
