College Football Briefs TEXAS HIRES DEL CONTE FROM TCU

-

TEXAS» Chris Del AUSTIN,

Conte is leaving TCU to take over the University of Texas’ athletic department.

The surprise move was announced Saturday by Texas president Greg Fenves, and Del Conte will start his new job Monday.

He succeeds Mike Perrin, who was hired in 2015 after former athletic director Steve Patterson was forced out after less than two years.

At TCU, Del Conte led the Horned Frogs into the Big 12 and helped mold a program that turned them into a football power.

Odom gets extension. Missouri coach Barry Odom was given a two-year contract extension through the 2022-23 season.

Odom’s salary will remain at $2.35 million annually for the additional two years, although he was also given a ticket-based incentive — with 20 percent of any home revenue above $11.7 million going to the second-year coach.

Allegation “unfounded.” An Army investigation into 2014 rape allegations against Black Knights quarterback Ahmad Bradshaw “were unfounded and the case was closed,” according to a statement released by the U.S. Military Academy on Saturday.
