Adam Rippon, the openly gay figure skater who helped the United States win a bronze medal in team competition and had became one of the biggest breakout stars of the Pyeong Chang Olympics for saying things that have been at turns smart, creative and refreshing for viewers, was offered a job by NBC as a correspondent for the rest of the Games.

But Rippon did not “want to relinquish his official Olympic standing, give up credential, move out of Team USA housing and miss (the) closing ceremony.”

Here’s a quick look at some of Rippon’s greatest hits so far:

• His Reese Witherspoon obsession runs deep.

“I owe this medal a lot to (Witherspoon) and to my mom. But, like, more to Reese in a way, you know? Because she has more followers on Instagram.”

“On the spectrum from Reese Witherspoon to Elmo, I’m like excited at about a Meryl Streep. Does that make sense?”

• He may or may not be a witch.

• Even his eyebrows became a talkedabout thing.

“I tweeted a while ago about an interview in which I was asked what it’s like to be a gay athlete, and I said, ‘It’s exactly like being a straight athlete, except with better eyebrows.’ Over the past few weeks, this has led to me talking more about my eyebrows than I have in my entire life. And then, someone sent me a tweet asking, ‘Oh, so you think you have better eyebrows than straight people?’ And I was like, ‘Wow. It sounds like your eyebrows probably aren’t that nice.’ ”
