Unless someone on the block has backyard chickens, city kids have few opportunities to interact with farm animals. Make a point of visiting some this spring, when all those cute babies are around. See lambs, piglets, chicks and calves during a Farm Baby Tour on April 14 and 28 and May 5 at 10 a.m. Tours run about 90 minutes. The Castle Rock Home and Garden Show at the Douglas County Fairgrounds (500 Fairgrounds Road) provides an opportunity to learn more about home renovations, design trends, remodeling, gardening and full-home automation. Interact with more than 100 vendors for ideas and inspiration, as well as assistance with any do-it-yourself home projects. Plus, enjoy live demonstrations, food samples and more. Dig in from March 30 to April 1. Hours are Friday from noon to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Parking and admission are free.

PRIME TIME

For years, children with a MY Denver Card have breezed into Denver’s recreation centers and pools without paying a dime. Now comes My Denver PRIME, a new program launched in January providing free access to 28 recreation centers and 31 pools to senior residents of Denver. To be eligible, you must be at least 60 years old, a Denver resident and not already eligible for another discount program. Bring proof of Denver residency and a photo ID (with birth date) to the front desk at any Denver Recreation Center. Eligibility must be verified annually.
