MINNESOTA DULUTH WINS HOCKEY SEMI

- — The Associated Press

MINN.» Louie Roehl and Jared ST. PAUL, Thomas scored in the first 3:04 and Minnesota Duluth held off Ohio State 2-1 on Thursday night to reach the NCAA hockey championship game for the second straight year.

Hunter Shepard made 19 saves for the Bulldogs (24-16-3), allowing only Tanner Laczynski’s power-play goal in the third period. Sean Romeo stopped 26 shots for the Buckeyes (26-10-5), who beat DU to make it to the semifinals.

The Bulldogs will face Michigan or Notre Dame on Saturday night. Duluth lost 3-2 to Denver in the title game last season in Chicago.

The Bulldogs needed less than two minutes to ignite the heavily partisan crowd, with freshman defenseman Roehl scoring his third career goal.

Just 1:11 later, they made it 2-0 when Thomas got behind the defense and scored on a breakaway.

McGregor turns himself in to police.

YORK» UFC star Conor

NEW

McGregor has turned himself into police in the wake of a backstage melee he instigated that has forced the removal of three fights off UFC’s biggest card of the year.

Video footage appears to show the promotion’s most bankable star throwing a hand truck at a bus full of fighters, after a news conference for UFC 223 at Barclays Center.

McGregor was being processed and no charges had been filed as of Thursday night.

Video showed McGregor with a group of people causing chaos Thursday as they took an elevator to the loading dock at Barclays Center. He can be seen tossing trash cans and being prevented from throwing a barricade at a bus during his unannounced appearance in New York.

The New York Police Department said McGregor threw a hand truck at a bus causing minor injury to an individual on the bus. UFC said three fights on Saturday’s UFC 223 card have subsequently been scrapped.

McGregor hasn’t fought for UFC since November 2016 and was stripped this week by UFC President Dana White of the 155-pound championship he had never defended.

OSU investigating sexual misconduct allegations.

Ohio State is investigating sexual misconduct allegations against a former wrestling team trainer who was with the team from the 1970s through the 1990s, the university announced.

The university said a person recently came forward to accuse Dr. Richard Strauss, who died in 2005, of sexual misconduct.

The person said there were multiple victims over a period of time, said Chris Davey, an Ohio State spokesman. The allegations include acts of sexual misconduct with student-athletes and other instances of sexual misconduct, the university said.

Ohio State has not been able to reach any of his family members, Davey said. The school also is not aware of any past criminal charges or lawsuits against Strauss, he said.

Strauss was an associate professor of medicine at Ohio State.

Ohio State said it will publicly release the results of the investigation when it is finished.
