SUSPECT IN CAPITOL HILL SHOOTING DIES
A suspect died in an officer-involved shooting in Denver’s Capitol Hill neighborhood that also left an officer with a serious gunshot injury to the leg.
The name of the suspect has not been released. Two bystanders received minor injuries.
Denver Police Chief Robert White has said a citizen flagged down two bicycle patrol officers about 7:55 p.m. Wednesday to report a nearby person had allegedly robbed the 7-Eleven at the corner of East Colfax Avenue and Pennsylvania Street.
Gunfire erupted. One officer fired shots at the suspect, while the suspect fired at police, White said.
One of the officers was shot in the leg. Police announced on Twitter that he was released from the hospital late Wednesday night.
Two women were visiting a nearby apartment when they heard gunshots.
