Source says Arthur picks up option with Nuggets

Denver Nuggets reserve forward Darrell Arthur has exercised his player option for the 2018-19 season, a league source confirmed.

Arthur, who will make nearly $7.5 million with Denver next season, played in 19 games with one start in 2017-18 and averaged 2.8 points.

His biggest value to the Nuggets is as one of their biggest veteran leaders, thanks to his career featuring a stint on Memphis’ playoff teams from 2010-13.

“He’s pretty much done everything that we want to do,” guard/forward Will Barton said last season. “… It’s different hearing it from a guy like that. When you see his sacrifice for the betterment of the team every day, it’s easy for you to listen to him.”

The Nuggets are also awaiting a decision from Wilson Chandler on his player option, which would pay him about $12.8 million in 2018-19.

Chandler averaged 10 points per game last season, his lowest scoring mark since 2011-12, but was a versatile defensive player on the wing.
