Broncos sign three tryout players

The Broncos’ roster is at the maximum of 90 players after signing linebacker Bo Bower, defensive tackle Caushaud Lyons and outside linebacker Antonio Simmons on Friday. A source Told The Denver Post of the Bower signing. A source confirmed The Athletic’s report of the Lyons and Simmons signings.

Each player participat­ed in this week’s minicamp on a tryout basis.

Bower (6-foot-1, 228 pounds) was a teammate of Broncos rookie linebacker Josey Jewell at Iowa. Bower started his final two seasons at weak-side linebacker and had a combined 181 tackles. He started his college career as a walk-on. After going undrafted, Bower tried out in Minnesota’s rookie camp but was not signed.

Lyons (6-4, 310) has spent time with Tampa Bay, Tennessee, the Los Angeles Rams, Detroit, Chicago and Minnesota but has not played in a regular season game. He was waived by the Vikings on May 7. Lyons played at Division II Tusculum University in Tennessee and was an All-American in 2014 (89 tackles).

Simmons (6-3, 235) played 43 games for Georgia Tech, recording 81 tackles (17 for lost yardage) and 7 1/2 sacks. He ran the 40yard dash in 4.52 seconds and posted 30 reps in the 225-pound bench-press at the Yellow Jackets’ Pro Day. Simmons signed with Tampa Bay after the draft but was cut May 13.
