Looking ahead
Rockies RHP Jon Gray (6-7, 5.68 ERA) at Rangers RHP Yovani Gallardo (0-0, 30.86), 2:05 p.m. Sunday, ATTRM; 850 AM
Gray’s search for consistent, quality outings continues Sunday afternoon at Globe Life Park. Colorado’s opening-day starter is 2-3 with a 7.98 ERA over this past six starts. His rough first inning Tuesday cost the Rockies in a 5-4 loss at Philadelphia. Gray settled down after the first inning, but the damage was done. He struck out 10, marking the 11th time in his career that he’s fanned 10 or more in a game. Gray, who will face the Rangers for the first time in his career, is 3-4 with a 4.93 ERA in seven road starts this season. The last-place Rangers have struggled to find starting pitchers, so they signed Gallardo, a 12-year veteran and 13-game winner for Texas in 2015, to a minorleague contract on April 13. He was 2-1 with a 3.81 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP in 10 starts at Triple-a Round Rock. Sunday will mark his first big-league start since Sept. 2, 2017. He’s winless in 11 career starts vs. Colorado, going 0-6 with a 6.14 ERA. Monday: Mets RHP Jacob degrom (4-2, 1.55 ERA) at Rockies LHP Tyler Anderson (4-1, 4.48), 6:40 p.m., ATTRM
