MASTERPIECE CAKESHOP

Compassion for religious beliefs, too

-

Re: “After Masterpiece Cakeshop Trump’s animus to religion looks ‘despicable’,” June 10 column

Diane Carman had a lengthy article about the Supreme Court decision in the Masterpiece Cake Shop case. The court ruled in favor of the baker. She wrote, “If it could be considered a victory at all, it was an exceedingly small one.” A small one? It was a 7 to 2 decision against the plaintiffs.

It is disheartening to realize that the two plaintiffs chose to file a civil rights complaint against a hard working baker who has been in business for 25 years. They did that despite the fact that what they wanted could be provided by other shops. Had they no compassion for the beliefs and feelings of other human beings? Apparently not.
