McCOY FOCUSED ON FOOTBALL, NOT POLICE INVESTIGAT­ION

N.Y.» LeSean McCoy had PITTSFORD, no doubts he’d be allowed to report for the start of Bills training camp after the running back was accused of bloodying his ex-girlfriend two weeks ago. And McCoy on Thursday also said he’s confident he will be playing in Buffalo’s season opener.

“I’m here right now, so I feel very confident,” McCoy said about an hour before the Bills opened training camp in suburban Rochester.

The comments were the first McCoy has made publicly since being accused of playing a role in his exgirlfrie­nd being injured during a home invasion at a house McCoy owns in the Atlanta suburbs.

Jones reports as Falcons prepare to open training camp.

Julio Jones told Falcons coach Dan Quinn weeks ago he’d report on time, even as the wide receiver sought to have his contract renegotiat­ed. A training camp holdout appeared to be Jones’ best path to a new deal. Finally, the Falcons announced close to midnight on Wednesday that they had reached an agreement to renegotiat­e Jones’ deal next year. The news came about 16 hours before Thursday’s deadline for players to report.

Source: Hawks agree to deal with veteran Vince Carter.

Vince Carter is the latest addition to the new-look Atlanta Hawks. The 41-year-old Carter has agreed to a one-year, $2.4 million contract with the Hawks, said a person familiar with the negotiatio­ns.

Carter, the NBA’s oldest player, was given the veteran’s minimum to provide veteran leadership on a rebuilding Atlanta squad entering its first season with coach Lloyd Pierce.

Tech company scores with naming rights for new Bucks arena.

A little-known hometown company listed on NASDAQ is about to have its name on the $524 million new home of the Milwaukee Bucks. The NBA team and Fiserv Co. have announced a 25-year naming rights deal for the nearly completed Wisconsin Entertainm­ent and Sports Center in downtown Milwaukee. Terms were not disclosed. The arena will be named Fiserv Forum.

Michigan State suing insurers over Nassar claims coverage.

Michigan State University is suing its insurance carriers over coverage of sexual assault claims by victims of jailed sports medicine doctor Larry Nassar.

The lawsuit was filed Thursday in Ingham County Circuit Court.

General Counsel Robert Young says in a release that the carriers have failed to honor “their policies.”

Michigan State announced in May it reached a $500 million settlement with 332 women and girls who said they were assaulted by Nassar.

Talladega Superspeed­way set for $50 million renovation.

Talladega Superspeed­way’s infield will undergo a $50 million renovation that will begin in October.

Track and Internatio­nal Speedway Corporatio­n officials announced Thursday a project that includes a garage viewing walkway for fans and a new paddock club. Constructi­on will begin after NASCAR’s visit Oct. 12-14. It is expected to be completed in time for the 2019 fall race.

MMA star Conor McGregor pleads guilty in melee case.

Mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor has pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in exchange for five days of community service to resolve charges stemming from a backstage melee at a New York City arena.

McGregor will also be evaluated for an anger management program.

Video showed what appeared to be McGregor hurling a hand truck at a bus full of fighters after a news conference for the UFC 223 event at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in April.

Two fighters hurt by broken glass were unable to compete.
