SKYDIVER FOUND DEAD NEAR AIRPORT
LONGMONT» The body of a man presumed to be a skydiver was found Friday west of the airport, after a woman told police that her boyfriend never returned from a skydiving trip.
A woman called police shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday to report her 23yearold boyfriend had not come home from a skydiving trip that afternoon, according to a news release from Boulder County Sheriff’s Cmdr. Mike Wagner.
The man, who lived in Golden, was reportedly an experienced skydiver and had a planned jump with MileHi Skydiving at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Wagner said.
It’s not immediately clear why MileHi Skydiving did not report the incident or whether staff members knew a skydiver was missing. MileHi Skydiving did not comment.
Police found his car parked at the airport and, along with the sheriff’s office, began to search, Wagner said. A man’s body was found about 9 a.m. in a field west of the airport in unincorporated Boulder County.
The Boulder County coroner will release the identity of the man and investigate the cause of his death.
