CU ADMISSION FOR EDUCATION STUDENTS GUARANTEED
BOULDER» Some high school students in Colorado can now guarantee their admission to the University of Colorado’s School of Education.
A release from the university says it has partnered with two enrollment programs, Teacher Cadet and Pathways2Teaching, to extend the admissions guarantee. Both programs offer collegereadiness courses and a way for students to learn about careers in teaching, the Daily Camera reported.
Sanders adds Denver stop at RiNo’s Zeppelin Station.
Sen. Bernie Sanders, IVt., has added another stop on his Colorado tour, and it’s River North Arts District’s Zeppelin Station.
“This is Bernie’s only Denver event of 2018, so you probably should be there,” Zeppelin Station posted on Facebook. Tickets are $27 each, and space is limited, the post said.
The event, for Sanders and Colorado House candidate Emily Sirota, is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday. This month, the former presidential candidate announced getoutthevote rallies in Fort Collins and Boulder for the same day.
Teacher placed on leave after suspected student mistreatment.
A Colorado middle school teacher has been placed on paid administrative leave as authorities investigate possible mistreatment of a student.
Evans police received the report Thursday regarding an incident with a seventhgrade boy at Prairie Heights Middle School.
Police say a 13second cellphone video taken by another student shows a female teacher taping the boy to a chair Tuesday. The tape was wrapped several times around his torso and thighs. The teacher also is seen putting tape on his mouth, which the child immediately removed. Police launched a full investigation. The Greeley Tribune reports the school district won’t identify the teacher until after the investigation.
Suspect in Aurora carjacking involving screwdriver caught after crash, foot chase.
An earlymorning carjacking in Aurora ended Friday afternoon in Denver when a vehicle crashed and two suspects fled on foot. One was caught nearby a short time later.
The initial carjacking happened about 4 a.m. in the 1600 block of Paris Street, according to Aurora police. The assailant used a screwdriver as a weapon in the incident. The victim declined medical treatment.
On Friday afternoon, police spotted a suspect in the carjacking and pursued the vehicle, which crashed in the area of East 16th Avenue and Ulster Street.
Denver police aided Aurora in catching the suspect. Police flooded the area after the crash and set up a search perimeter, which led to the arrest. There were no reports of injuries.
The second suspect remained at large Friday.
