CU GETS COMMITMENT FROM RUGBY PLAYER

-

BOULDER» A USA Rugby team member will be making tackles for the Colorado Buffaloes’ football team.

Quinn Perry, a 6-foot-2, 240-pound inside linebacker from El Camino College, announced Monday that he has committed to sign with the Buffs on Feb. 6. Perry will have three seasons to play two after finishing the school year at the junior college in Torrance, Calif.

“The physicality you need for rugby is one thing, but being able to control that and being able to work under fatigue is the biggest thing for me,” he said. “Rugby tackling is big for me, being able to get a guy down right away. It’s really efficient too, because sometimes you need more of a form tackle to get somebody down rather than just trying to run straight through them.”

Perry was El Camino’s MVP in 2018 after recording 67 tackles, 9½ of them for loss, an interception he returned for a touchdown and two forced fumbles. He also averaged 39.5 on 57 punts.
