Giants met in the free agent slugger’s hometown of Las Vegas this week, and new San Francisco baseball operations chief Farhan Zaidi said the sides had mutual interest.

Zaidi, the club’s new president of baseball operations, would not say whether an offer was extended to the star outfielder. The Giants still hope to add two outfielder­s.

A fan posted that he had spotted Giants CEO Larry Baer in the Bellagio on Monday night.

“It’s kind of hard to deny when your CEO gets made in the casino,” Zaidi said with a chuckle Friday. “There’s obviously mutual interest on both sides, so we thought it made sense to get together.”

CBS picks up additional 12 million viewers for Super Bowl.

Another 12 million has been added to CBS’ viewership totals for the Super Bowl.

The network said Friday that the New England Patriots 13-3 victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Feb. 3 now totals 112.7 million viewers. That’s based on Nielsen’s “Out of Home” viewing metric. That includes viewers at places including other people’s homes, bars, restaurant­s and hotels.

The total audience includes those who viewed the game on CBS and ESPN Deportes as well as streaming on CBS, ESPN, Verizon Media and NFL streaming services.

The Super Bowl is traditiona­lly the most-watched telecast of the year.

Chloe Kim added a world championsh­ip to her growing collection of titles, easily winning the women’s halfpipe contest and giving a brief glimpse of things to come.

With the victory Friday Park City, Utah, the 18-year-old Kim is now the reigning world, X Games and Olympic champion.

She wrapped this up early, scoring 93.5 on her first of three runs. With the victory secure, she tried to become the first woman to land a frontside double cork in competitio­n, but fell on the trick.

Australian Scotty James, who finished third at the Pyeongchan­g Games last year, made it 3 for 3 in world championsh­ips, scoring 97.5 to add to titles in 2015 and 2017.

Indians star Lindor may miss season start with calf strain.

» Indians All-Star shortstop Francisco Lindor likely will miss the start of the season with a strained right calf. One of baseball’s best allaround players, Lindor sustained the injury recently while working out in Orlando, Florida. He was checked Wednesday at the Cleveland Clinic. The Indians anticipate he’ll be out up to nine weeks, which would place his return sometime in early April. Cleveland opens the regular season on March 28 in Minnesota.

Hellickson, Nationals finalize $1.3M contract.

Right-hander Jeremy Hellickson and the Washington Nationals have finalized their $1.3 million, one-year contract, a deal that allows him to earn $4 million in performanc­e bonuses for starts. The 31-year-old was 5-3 with a 3.45 ERA in 19 starts for Washington last season. Hellickson is 74-72 with a 4.07 ERA in the majors. He is expected to be the front-runner to claim the No. 5 spot in Washington’s starting rotation.

Fields gets waiver to play immediatel­y for Ohio State.

Fields, a former five-star recruit, transferre­d to the Buckeyes after he got stuck behind Jake Fromm on Georgia’s depth chart. Ohio State announced Friday that the NCAA has approved Fields’ request for a waiver of the rule requiring transfers to sit out a year. Fields is expected to compete for the starting quarterbac­k spot.
