Teen who died in rollover is identified.

The victim of a single-vehicle rollover crash last week was a 15-year-old, according to the Denver medical examiner’s office.

Madelyn Kadets died of blunt-force injuries, according to a news release.

The crash occurred April 28 at the eastbound Sixth Avenue ramp heading onto north Interstate 25.

Police initially said they were investigating a couple of people who fled the scene on foot.

Denver police spokesman Jay Casillas said detectives are still looking for the driver of the vehicle, and they haven’t made any arrests.

It appears the vehicle lost control, causing the rollover, he said.

Chaos complicates investigation into riot.

GOLDEN»

Two teenagers believed to have sparked a riot involving eight juvenile residents at Lookout Mountain Youth Services Center are refusing to cooperate in an investigation after four staff members were taken to hospitals with injuries.

About 11 staff members received minor injuries during the riot that broke out just before 6 p.m. in a housing unit called Cedar Lodge, Karlyn Tilley, Golden police spokeswoman, said Thursday.

Police are interviewing the 19 staff members who responded to the melee in which four residents received minor injuries. No residents were taken to the hospital, Tilley said.

In many instances staff members didn’t know who attacked them, and investigators will have to review surveillance video to document who attacked the guards, she said.

“The problem is that because it was so chaotic, the staff members weren’t able to identify who hit them,” Tilley said. “They’re looking at who did what to who.”

There is a potential that criminal charges will be filed, she said. The residents broke windows and other property during the riot, she said.

All other housing units in the facility were put on lockdown.

Two convicted of killing man during robbery.

GOLDEN» A jury has convicted two men of killing a 27-year-old during a robbery last year.

The district attorney’s office in Jefferson County says 20-year-old Caleb J. Vigil and 21-year-old Devon D. Howard were found guilty of first-degree murder and other charges.

Authorities say Andrew Jenicek was shot in the chest when Vigil attempted to rob him at Edgewater in April 2018.

Vigil got into a car driven by Howard, and the car ran over Jenicek, who died at the scene.

Prosecutors say the men also fired shots into a woman’s bedroom in an effort to intimidate and retaliate against her for being a witness in another trial.

Their sentencing is set for May 31.
