Centennial man allegedly made threats against 13-year-old

- By Kirk Mitchell

A Centennial man has been charged with sexual solicitation of a minor after he allegedly made a deal with a Florida woman in which she would kill his wife in exchange for him raping and killing her 13-year-old daughter.

The woman was actually a federal undercover agent with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations.

Danny “TwistedDan” McLaughlin has been charged in U.S. District Court in Denver with attempted online enticement of a minor.

The arrest was part of a sting against people who visit a Dark Web site catering to people with an interest in death, torture and killing. McLaughlin, using a screen name of TwistedDan, allegedly made numerous online requests to the female federal agent stationed in Cocoa Beach, Fla., who was posing as an Orlando mother of a 13-year-old girl, according to an arrest affidavit.

McLaughlin allegedly began writing about raping and killing the fictitious mother’s daughter.

“Hello … You want her snuffed do you?” McLaughlin allegedly wrote.

The suspect then referred to himself as twisted and dark, according to an arrest affidavit.

McLaughlin allegedly proposed a scenario in which the mom would take her 13-year-old daughter on a trip and then claim her daughter ran away, the affidavit said.

“Anyway, as I see it … I bind her … and take her home with me,” the suspect allegedly wrote to the undercover agent.

McLaughlin wrote that he would help the fictitious mother get rid of her daughter if she helped him get rid of his wife, the affidavit said. With his wife out of the picture, he allegedly wrote that he would be free to have the teenager to himself. “It was a fair trade,” McLaughlin wrote.

McLaughlin allegedly proposed several options for killing his wife and offered the undercover agent $3,000 to defray her costs, the affidavit said.

The undercover agent met McLaughlin at a Centennial motel and confirmed that he was the one who was going to take her daughter off her hands and that she was going to kill his wife. He said he would chain her to a mattress and torture, cut and rape her, the affidavit said.

McLaughlin also told the undercover agent that he had experience molesting children. He gave her $100 and promised to give more money later.

He was then arrested, the affidavit indicates.
