ONE KILLED IN DALLAS CRANE COLLAPSE

DALLAS» A constructi­on crane buffeted by high winds during a storm toppled on a Dallas apartment building Sunday, killing one woman in the building and injuring five other people, two of them critically, a fire official said.

Crews searching the Elan City Lights building found the body of a woman inside after the crane collapsed and ripped a large gash into the side of the five-story structure, Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said.

Of those injured, two were listed in critical condition, two suffered serious injuries and one suffered minor injuries and was later discharged from a hospital, Evans said.

3rd child dies after horsedrawn carriage is hit.

ALGANSEE TOWNSHIP, MICH.» A third child who was in an Amish horsedrawn carriage that was struck by a drunken driver in southern Michigan has died, authoritie­s said.

Two children, ages 6 and 2, died at the scene of Friday evening’s crash. A 4-year-old later died at a hospital, and another young child and a woman who were in the carriage remained hospitaliz­ed with serious injuries, State Trooper Seth Reed told the Detroit Free Press.

The pickup truck’s driver, 21-year-old Tyler Frye, of Angola, Ind., faces three counts of driving while intoxicate­d causing death and two counts of driving while intoxicate­d causing serious injury, Reed said.

Man with BB gun set off panic at LGBTQ parade.

WASHINGTON» A man threatened another person with a BB gun during an LGBTQ pride parade in the nation’s capital and set off a panic that sent hundreds of people, who mistakenly believed gunshots were fired, running in fear, police said Sunday.

Aftabjit Singh, 38, was arrested on weapons possession and disorderly conduct charges after Saturday evening’s incident in the Dupont Circle neighborho­od of Washington, D.C.

California lawmakers agree to health benefits for immigrants.

SACRAMENTO» California will become the first state in the country to pay for some adults living in the country illegally to have full health benefits as the solidly liberal state continues to distance itself from President Donald Trump’s administra­tion.

Democrats in the state Legislatur­e reached an agreement Sunday afternoon as part of a broader plan to spend $213 billion of state and federal tax money over the next year. The agreement means low-income adults between the ages of 19 and 25 living in California illegally would be eligible for California’s Medicaid program, the joint state and federal health insurance program for the poor and disabled.

Brush fire sets off evacuation at amusement park.

fast-moving brush fire erupted near a huge amusement and water park in Southern California on Sunday, setting off panic and confusion as park visitors were first told to evacuate as smoke surrounded the area.

Six Flags Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor announced the evacuation shortly after noon. About 40 minutes later, the park said on its Twitter account that fire officials asked guests to stay inside due to nearby road closures.
